Tour to the Highlights of Romania
Itinerary proposal:
Day 1: Arrival in Bucharest- Bucharest city tour: "Discovering the Little Paris" (50 km)
The guide will wait you at the Otopeni Airport in Bucharest holding a name plate with your name on it. Transfer to the hotel in Bucharest. After a refreshment-break we visit the city with its main attraction points: The Press House, the Kisselef Boulevard, The Arch of Triumph, the Victoriei Square, the Victoriei Street, the Revolution Square, the Cotroceni Palace, the Palace of the Parliament (inside visit too). After that we will take a walk through the “Old Center” of Bucharest, discovering this way a precious piece of history and living the atmosphere of the “Little Paris”. Dinner in a Indian restaurant
Day 2: Bucharest - Ploiesti - Sinaia - Brasov (190 km)
After visiting the Palace of the Parliament, the second largest building in the world (after the Pentagon), we drive north towards Brasov. On our way we are going to see the famous oil fields near Ploiesti. We will have lunch in Sinaia. Next we visit the summer residence of the Romanian royal family, the Peles Castle (the xtended tour). The kings were all of German Prussian origin from the Hohenzoller von Singmaringen family. In the afternoon we arrive in Brasov (Kronstadt). Dinner and accommodation for two nights in the City of the Crown. Also in Brasov we have an Indian restaurant.
Day 3: Brasov, the city from the Middle Ages and Citadels of the Barsa Land (60 km)
After breakfast we will visit the historical centre of Brasov, beginning with the beautiful collection of oriental carpets from the Black Church. This one seems to keep alive, by it` s beauty, entire centuries of history. During our medieval journey in the Crown City we will visit also The Council Tower, the 14th century St. Nicholas Church, the First Romanian School, The Schei Gate and the Catherine`s Gate, the Rope Street – the narrowest street in Romania. Lunch break in the city. In the afternoon we will drive to Bran (Törzburg) where we are going to see the so called Dracula Castle. We will take a walk through legends and stories that bring here every year thousands of visitors from all over the world. Accommodation and dinner in Brasov.
Day 4: Brasov - Prejmer - Viscri - Sighisoara (150 km)
First we visit, in Prejmer, the best preserved peasant's citadel from the Barsa Land. After a two hours drive we arrive to a small village - Viscri (in German Deutsch-Weisskirch) where we will find out more about the „Mihai Eminesu Trust" and it's restauration project. Viscri is an abandoned village which now comes back to life. In this village Prince Charles of U.K. has a house. In the afternoon we drive to Sighisoara (Schässburg), one of the most beautiful and well preserved medieval cities in Romania. Here we will make the city tour by visiting the Citadel - a 12th century Saxon edifice located in the historic center. Still occupied, the citadel is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers the visitors sights like The Clock Tower, Dracula`s birth house, The Covered Staircase that leads to the wonderful Church on the Hill. Overnight in Sighisoara.
Day 5: UNESCO in Transylvania: Sighisoara - Biertan - Medias - Valea Viilor - Sibiu (160 km)
First we visit the fortified church in Biertan, which used o be the Bishops' residence for more than 300 years. We will visit the old Pharmacy. Afterwards. we go to Medias, to visit the Church Castle. On our way we pass through Richis and Mosna. In the afternoon we drive to the 3rd UNESCO fortified Church in Valea Viilor/ Wurmloch. After visiting the church we drive to Sibiu. Dinner and accommodation for 2 nights in Sibiu. Also in Sibiu we have the posibility to eat in a rstaurant with Indian specialities.
Day 6: Sibiu - European Cultural Capital 2007 & Surroundings (60 km)
After breakfast we make a city tour in the European Cultural Capital 2007 to discover its medieval tresure. We visit, among others the Evangelical Church, the Council Tower, The large and the Small Square, the Liars' Bridge, the Peasants' Market etc. Lunch break and free time in Sibiu. In the afternoon we drive to Cristian/ Großau, where we see the Fortified Church, and also to Sibiel to see the unique Icons Museum (naive reverse glass painting). Then we drive back to Sibiu.
Day 7: Sibiu - Curtea de Arges - Pitesti - Bucuresti (290 km)
Today we head along the Olt River towards South. First we go to the Monastery in Curtea de Arges, a mix between Islamic and Orthodox architecture. Built up in 1359, this Monastery is a real shelter for our history, being the necropolis of the royal family.Next we drive through Pitesti until we reach Bucharest.
Free time late in the afternoon in Bucharest / "the little Paris" of the East.
Dinner and accommodation in Bucharest.
Day 8: Airport Bucuresti: Flight back home (20 km)
Transfer to the airport. Here you say goodbye to the guide.
