You will start our journey on the Transfagarasan Road - the highest altitude pass road. You will discover the beauty of the glacial Balea Lake (2034 m), Vidraru dam lake, and the famous orthodox Monasteries of Curtea de Arges and Cozia.

The Transfagarasan mountain road is one of the most spectacular roads in the world. Located in Romania, it runs through the Fagaras mountains, and it represents a challenge for every driver because of its sharp hairpin turns. Built between 1970 and 1974 by the military forces, the Transfagarasan has more tunnels and viaducts than any other road in Romania.

Via Transfăgărăşan road through a breathtakingly majestic landscape, the Balea area is a perfect starting point for various mountain trails in the Făgăraş Mountains, where you can enjoy the diversity of its flora and fauna. The Bâlea area is crossed by the Bâlea River, which forms a picturesque waterfall. The journey to Balea Lake will certainly be one to remember!

Located at the end of a boulevard with hundreds of years-old linden trees, Curtea de Arges Monastery is the most important pilgrimage and prayer place in the county of Arges. Founded in the time of voivode Neagoe Basarab, between 1512 and 1517, the monastery is a part of the most famous Romanian legend, “The legend of master Manole”. Because of its notoriety and spiritual charge, Curtea de Arges Monastery is found on most presentation folders and albums of Romania.

On our way back to Sibiu, we will also admire the Monastery Cozia, built close to Călimănești by Mircea the Elder in 1388 and housing his tomb, which is one of the most valuable monuments of national medieval art and architecture in Romania.
