One of the top destinations in Romania that you shouldn`t miss is represented by the Peles Castle, situated in the beautiful mountain resort, Sinaia. Used as a summer resindence for the royal family and raised in the XIXth century at the initiative of King Charles I, this monument represents a symbol of elegance and nobility. Unique for its hystorical and artistic characteristics, this castle is an architectural materpiece blending the Neo-Renaissance style with Gothic elements.
A Saxon influence can be felt by visiting the interior courtyard facades, wich have allegorical hand-painted murals. The interior decoration is mostly Baroque influenced, with heavy carved woods and exquisite fabrics very similar to the European alpine architecture.
