“This is perhaps Europe’s last great wild area where bears, wolves, and lynxes still live.” (Wild Carpathia documentary – Charlie Otley).

During this tour, you will see two different destinations of Romania as you will discover the natural forests of the Carpathian Mountains along with an elegant castle, Peles, considered to be one of the most beautiful castles in Europe.

Why go off-roading in Romania?

Vast and varied terrain: The country is crisscrossed by an extensive network of forest roads and trails, offering endless opportunities for exploration.

Breathtaking scenery: Drive through dense primeval forests, across alpine meadows, and over high mountain passes like the legendary Transalpina and Transfăgărășan roads.

Rich culture and history: Encounter lonely shepherd villages, explore medieval castles like Bran (Dracula's) Castle, and visit centuries-old monasteries.

Diverse wildlife: Get a glimpse of Europe's largest terrestrial mammal, the bison, in reserves like Bison Valley, as well as bears, wolves, and eagles in their natural habitat.

Program

This full-day tour will include departure from Bucharest, approximately. a 1-hour drive to Sinaia, a beautiful mountain resort, stop in Sinaia to visit Peles Castle, the former summer residence of Carol 1st (Carol Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen, a German Prince from the dynasty with the same name, was the first king of Romania).

The Castle, built between 1875 and 1914 (a total period of 39 years) in a beautiful Neo-Renaissance architectural style, was one of the most modern constructions from the end of the 19th century. It was also the first castle in Europe with electric power.

After the visit to the castle, the trip will continue with an expedition to the peaks, to admire the real beauty of the mountains, and “the world is seen from above”. The expedition will take approx. 4 hours, and it will be made using a local mountain guide & a strong 4×4 vehicle.
