What are the Saxon Trails?
The Transylvanian Saxons were German settlers who arrived in the region in the 12th century, invited to defend the borderlands of the Hungarian Kingdom. They left behind a spectacular legacy of fortified churches, vibrant architecture, and a rich cultural heritage. The Saxon Trails are a collection of routes that link these historical treasures, offering a unique journey through a living, "lost world".

The Saxon trail
In the morning, you will be transferred to Aposu, at Villa Abbatis, the starting location of your adventurous day trip.
After you arrive at Villa Abbatis, we take the Stejerișu (Probstdorf) path, where a small Saxon community is still to be found and is happy to share their stories with us.
We will go up in the Speck Tour and taste speck, green onions, oven-baked bread, and the local brandy.
Mr. Misch will explain all about this old custom of keeping speck supplies up in the tower and why Saxons were not allowed to touch their own supply until the first thunder in the new year was to be heard.
For those of you who are vegetarians, there is a variety of cheeses available.
After we start eating in the tower and under the spell of brandy, we are going for a proper lunch cooked by Saxon.
Don’t eat too much, even if it's delicious, because we still have to walk around in the village and talk about the local architecture, rather than take the way back.
