You will start our journey on the Transfagarasan Road - the highest altitude pass road. You will discover the beauty of the glacial Balea Lake (2034 m), Vidraru dam lake and the famous orthodox Monasteries of Curtea de Arges and Cozia.

The Transfagarasan mountain road is one of the most spectacular roads in the world. Located in Romania, it runs trough Fagaras mountains and it represents a challenge for every driver because of its sharp hairpin turns. Built between 1970 and 1974 by the military forces, the Transfagarasan has more tunnels and viaducts then any other road in Romania.

Via Transfăgărăşan road through a breathtakingly majestic landscape, Balea area is a perfect start-up point for some various mountain trails in Făgăraş Mountains, where you can enjoy the diversity of its flora and fauna. Bâlea area is crossed by Bâlea River which forms a picturesque waterfall. The journey to Balea Lake will certainly be one to remember!

Located at the end of a boulevard with hundred of years old linden trees, Curtea de Arges Monastery is the most important pilgrimage and prayer place in the county of Arges. Founded in the time of voivode Neagoe Basarab, between 1512 and 1517, the monastery is a part of the most famous Romanian legend, “The legend of master Manole”. Because of its notoriety and spiritual charge, Curtea de Arges Monastery is to be found on most presentation folders and albums of Romania.

On our way back to Sibiu we will also admire the Monastery Cozia, built close to Călimănești by Mircea the Elder in 1388 and housing his tomb, is one of the most valuable monuments of national medieval art and architecture in Romania.
